Lessons Learned – Southwest Airlines
Lessons learned from the Southwest logo. Interesting, I was just sitting there reflecting on the plane and I was just kind of nodding off and looking in the distance. And then I see this heart and I started thinking about it and looking at it. And if you want to know a little bit more about what I was thinking, then we’re going to discuss that right now with luxury real estate agent Shana Acquisto and local real estate celebrity. So it’s really good. Oh, no. Oh, no.
So we’re going to discuss that. We’re going to pull up the logo, see exactly what I was seeing at that time, and we’re going to kind of reflect on it.
So let’s jump into this, Omkar, if you could split the screen. So there it is. I was just sitting there and I looked at that the distance, and I was like, wow, that’s a pretty good logo. And I knew instantly what it was. I knew it was Southwest’s logo and there was quite a few things to it.
So let me just kind of discuss what I was seeing at that moment, and then we’ll look at what maybe you were seeing when you think about it, what maybe the designer was looking for when they were putting it together with the marketing team, was striving for what they were trying to accomplish here. Right. And so we’re going to discuss all those things. But as I’m doing this, you look at it for just a second and I’ll be I’ll be quiet for just a minute, which is hard for me. And I’m going to let you guys reflect on that and just have that same moment.
We’re going to change the perspective and Omkar flip to the next one. I think I have two copies of it and we’ll just take a look and just think about it for just a couple of seconds. All right, so after not talking for just a little bit and silence is difficult sometimes, isn’t it? You feel the need to just fill the air and say something, but sometimes you just have to let it speak for itself.
And that’s what we’re kind of trying to do here with this logo. So Southwest has a couple of color choices that they’ve made, and each one kind of would evoke something different. And I haven’t looked at what they were trying to accomplish. But I’ll tell you what I kind of saw when I looked at this, OK, Southwest is different.
Right, you ride, you ride that airline or fly that airline, I’m not sure which word they would prefer, but you utilize them right. And as you do that, there’s there’s kind of something that happens and you feel the culture is a little bit different. Right, I mean, the people are definitely maybe a touch quirky, I don’t know, maybe they’re a little different, maybe they have a different experience. They don’t take themselves so seriously, but they do other items. Right.
So but what we have here is we have this logo. Yeah. That’s a much better costume. Thank you for bringing that up. And so what we have here are a three different major colors that are going down throughout. Right. So the yellow, the red and the blue.
And I’m sure each color kind of means something different to them. But it’s in three dimension and they care. That’s the first thing the heart is like. They love what they do. And they care about it, and I think that does show for them as Southwest Airlines that they care and it really got me thinking about it because I was like, so when somebody asks you about Acquisto Real Estate or like, what is it? What is it about you that’s different? Is an agent, right? What is that? That matters? And I always go to we care and it matters to us. And we have great people that work with us. And we try to incorporate these words like real estate, family. Right.
And support family because these things do matter. And then I looked at this and I was like, wow, you’re doing the same thing. But maybe on a bigger perspective. And they’re putting the heart out there. And universally, when you look at the heart, you know what it is. Now, this is a very distinct heart because it’s what it has is it has like a three dimensionality to it.
It’s you know, it’s got kind of a mirrored ness to the silver and it’s showing it’s got something wrapped around it. Maybe it shows kind of like a hug. It has these different colors to it, evoking different things, maybe quality, maybe like, I don’t know, all these things. Maybe it’s fun. Maybe it’s just a little bit different than what you would normally see. But to me, it shows that they care.
It does. And, you know, I love to fly Southwest. Like if you have a choice to fly, I fly southwest. And I was thinking about this yesterday to. When you fly southwest, they don’t give you a seat, no, it’s just like you get a section right and you go in and you find your seat.
So it’s not like you get an assigned seat. So it’s kind of I mean, you think, oh, that’s annoying, right? But it’s not. It’s not. I actually do not mind it at all. They give you two free bags like they do things that I just really appreciate and love and I don’t know. And like you said, the the people that work with Southwest are having a good time. They’re a little quirky. They throw some things out there. So you have a good you know, you feel comfortable.
They try to make it memorable. They do. And that’s what I hope you realize as well. So those are some of the things that I saw when I was just looking at this. I was looking up and I was like, wow, there’s a lot of things that kind of go into that. Yeah. And do you show to your clients how much you care and how much it matters to you?
And the process of buying a home can be daunting and difficult, but they’re going to come back to you at the end if you make them feel like this.
And that’s what I like. Yeah. Like probably running an airline. I come back, right? Probably running an airline is difficult as well. And then they make it kind of look easy. Yeah. They take care of all these difficult things, like getting the plane in the air. Imagine all the logistics and actually going into.
So this is either lack of sleep or just our. Our brains work, especially yours, you just see something and you start analyzing and thinking about it, right? And universally, this is this is a horror and it shows that you care, that you love it and whatever that is. And I don’t know, I was just kind of looking at it and it kind of struck me just a little bit. And I wanted to share that with you guys today.
And I wanted to see if what South West Airlines was thinking and what they wanted to accomplish by showing that, you know, as their logo. Did I get that across? Did I also feel what was supposed to be going on there? Right. Did I interpret it correctly? Did they get that message across? And are we as agents getting that message across to our clients on how much we care? This is one of the things that I say. And that we all kind of want, but do we do it? Do we hit on it?
So just kind of think about that and I think we’ll get a little bit closer because I feel every one of you guys do care. Oh, yes, they do. OK. Very good. And if we would, I think we’re done with this topic.
