Ag exemption Basics of bees, are you a rancher or a farmer or a beekeeper are bees animals? There’s a lot of questions here. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Mike and this is my amazing wife, Shana. We are here to tell you a little bit of information that we gained yesterday from Blake. He told us a lot of information. I personally retained about one percent of it and hopefully will be able to impart some of that wisdom upon you right now.

So let’s talk about costs associated with it. Time, space, location benefits. All right. So here’s some of the things that I learned in no particular order, cost associated with bees is you don’t necessarily have to do it yourself. Now, you can lease the bees, you can lease your land for the bees.

So if I start the lowest common denominator, which would be super nice, is you can have a lease agreement with a beekeeper bee person, somebody else, not you that knows what they’re doing with bees. They would bring it onto your property and you would lease them your land and the rights to use that just for bees with restrictions on where y entrance access, all those types of things, where they put it, you know, how they service it, whatever that is, to ensure that you do qualify for this deduction now.

So that’s the easiest way is to simply have a lease agreement with somebody else. Then you could have any type of term. You can negotiate so you can negotiate who gets the honey right, who pays for certain things and what the costs are associated with it. Are you paying the beekeeper to actually do this on your property so you qualify?

There’s all types of arrangements you can have, but that seems to me to be the lowest barrier of entry to get into and the smallest hurdle to cross. Then after that, you can go ahead and acquire the boxes and the high. There’s words in here that I don’t know. So I’m going to I’m going to kind of vote for them a little bit. But there’s like boxes and there’s grids that go in it.

And then there’s the actual bees that go inside there. Then there’s supplies for use. That beekeeper, if you want to do that, they’re actually not as expensive as you kind of think. I was starting to go through the numbers and I don’t know, the boxes are one hundred dollars ish for a box with all the stuff inside it.

Like all these different things, there’s a top, there’s a bottom. They whether there’s all types of stuff that goes on, they have a certain lifespan. Think of them lasting for a decade and one hundred dollars for ten dollars a year for the box. You know, for a basic property, you probably have to have seven of them for five to ten acres.

So you kind of get by with that. So now we need seven hundred dollars for boxes, whatever that is, to be outside those wooden boxes that to be up off the ground just a little bit. So some structure to put there. And we have to bring the bees in these depending on the quality. So there’s all different types of bees. I heard there’s like a fat man bee that does pretty well. There’s bees from Italy that are super hardy and then there is other bees that were mild.

So they didn’t sting an attack. But it has to do with how they’re raised, how they be cross-bred. There’s a ton of different items here right now. So there’s a bunch of going along with that. Depending on the quality and the stock of the bees, they’re either two hundred to maybe two hundred and fifty dollars per box for the bees. So that comes to the queen and all types of stuff.

Like they put it in there and then you start you off you go. All right, so now we other world. So now we have some money invested in bees. The bees you shouldn’t need to repopulate unless you have a challenge. Right. And everything doesn’t kind of go right for you. So then you only have to do that if you’re not successful and maybe they don’t live so.

And you can there’s a maximum amount of ACRS, you can go up to 20 acres, he said. Yes, 20 acres.
Yeah, that’s the maximum amount, yes.
So now we get that we have all this extra money that comes out know.

And I think that’s great. They say the local honey, that you intake here helps with allergies, right? Yes. This is a direct relation correlation to that.

So I think it pollinate stuff better because, like, that’s the kind of their job. So maybe you have a maybe it beautifies your property. Right. Maybe that’s something that you can talk about.

What if they got loose and got all so the bees themselves ask questions about what space they take up and how that kind of goes? He did say that the bees. The beekeeper I talk to like five different gentlemen that were professionals in this, and they actually said that they got their hives were conditioned, that they were able to mow right around it and put their hands on it would not with no suits on or anything and would be totally fine.

You guys remember when we had bees and it actually we had people sprinting out of our home being chased by bees. That was a good time. We haven’t had anybody back since for TNT.

That was amazing. What was the gentleman he was with? David Wynans.
David Wynans. He was amazing. He was running down the road. It was one of my favorite stories of all time.
And our son, he was like, refer back to that and refer back to future episode or past episodes to get information there.

All right. So back to these. Now we have the costs associated with them, the time commitment. He says you need to kind of like check on them maybe twice a month. The bees only have to be on your property for six months, not posit maybe some of this information is not 100 percent right.

The bees have to be on your property six months a year to qualify for that exemption. And yeah, so that was one of the kind of the key things of speaking about it, honey. So actually a lot of honey goes back in it so you can use, like, sugar water, I suppose. And he says the honey is not as good of a quality.

But if you use the honey as like their energy and pour the honey back in to the bees, then the bees are happier and they’re healthier and they produce even better honey. But now it’s like we’re taking honey out the bottom and they’re like pouring it in the top and like we actually aren’t getting anything. It’s really weird to me except higher quality, honey, but like a little less of it.

But yes, taxes. And I guess we have a beautiful place where we put the bees. Where would you put the bees? So I think I’d like to put them like way.

Oh, well, I can’t even point at them. I don’t know. It’s tough to show it’s backwards. I don’t know.
I put like here somewhere right here, not anywhere near me. I put them here next right next to you is where the bees would go.

So anyways, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you learned quite a bit. There’s a lot of people, bee people are passionate, super passionate bee to get a bee suit. I don’t know. They’re like fifty bucks. There’s like all types of supplies.

And I see that being our next Halloween. So festive Halloween costume.
Yeah. If anybody out there is super interested, if you lay your head down at night and it gets all quiet and you start to think to yourself.

It would be great to be a bee farmer rancher. It would be a great specialist.

Ok, then you can lease the property from us and you can do it yourself on our property. So if you ever laid your head down in your thinking, I need a new hobby. I don’t I go right to sleep. No, no. But if anyone thinks about it right, like serious, this is sincere. If if you have a genuine interest in this, then please let me know.
